Cybertruck's Massive Windshield Wiper: New Video Shows it in Action

The Tesla Cybertruck is one of the most unique and futuristic vehicles on the market. However, it has garnered attention for more than just its angular design. People are also curious about the massive windshield wiper that adorns the vehicle's windshield. A recent video may have finally provided some answers to this burning question.

The windshield on the Cybertruck is gigantic, so large that the singular wiper seen on the prototype may not even be able to wipe the entire surface. Some have even speculated that the Cybertruck may be in violation of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations.

Fortunately, a videographer named Brad Sloan has released a stunning 4K video taken with a drone over Tesla's Gigafactory Texas that captures the Cybertruck and its wiper in action. In the video, we get an incredible look at the vehicle's massive windshield from above, with the wiper turning on a few times to provide us with an up-close view of its capabilities.

Interestingly, the wiper extends far above the see-through portion of the windshield and onto the darkened section on top. This suggests that the wiper may, in fact, clean a significant portion of the windshield, even on the passenger's side.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has previously mentioned that the windshield wiper seen on the Cybertruck prototype was not the production version and that it is a challenging problem to solve. He suggested that a "deployable wiper that stows in front trunk" may be the ideal solution, but it would be complex to implement.

It is unclear whether the wiper has been significantly improved since Musk's comments, but the video does show that it works quickly and elegantly. Nevertheless, some may still feel uneasy about the thought of a massive wiper moving quickly during heavy rain.

Overall, the Cybertruck's windshield wiper is an engineering challenge that Tesla will need to overcome to bring this unique vehicle to market. However, it is exciting to see progress being made on this front, and we can't wait to see what other innovative solutions Tesla has in store for us.
